Get Help Negotiating Visitation Agreements

In a divorce or child custody case, one of the biggest challenges can be dividing the time a child or children spends with each parent. One of the first things a parent should consider when determining visitation is what works best for the child. At Sandoval Family law, we can help you peacefully negotiate an agreement that serves both your and your child’s best interests.

What You Should Know About Child Custody Visitation in Texas

The Texas Family Code provides a standard, called a Standard Possession Order, to make the process of determining visitation easier. Typically, courts will default to a 44/ 56 split, with the primary parent spending the majority of the time with the child or children.

However, there are some cases in which parents wish to divide time more evenly or create a visitation schedule that differs from the default. Factors that can be considered are proximity, the co-parent relationship, and time a child spends with third parties.
